This is a project that’s been on the list for a while. I never quite liked the look of the original henna glossy design (from Urban Outfitters 2 years back). I had been meaning to spray paint it and add SOME design, but I wasn’t sure what would look best. After traveling to New Orleans in July, I’ve been inspired to incorporate some darker/unique pieces into my decor. When I saw an old palmistry hand, I knew I wanted to recreate it somehow. So…I give you the DIYย version!

Here’s what you’ll need

Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch 2x Ultra Cover in Flat Black.

2 coats of this paint did the trick.

I searched google for different images of palmistry hands to get an idea of how I wanted mine to look. Since I’m just planning to use it for decor purposes, I added more symbols and random numbers to fill up most of the hand.

And here we have it! The finished hand + ring + glass display dome.

So, let’s be honest here. The twine was not in the original plan. I messed up the wrist area with black spray paint by touching it too soon after painting it. So, rather than re-painting the whole hand, I improvised with texture. I think it adds an organic element!
